Things I Love Thursdays

Well, it's been a while since I've done one of these! I'm sitting in my bare bones dorm room waiting to move out as I type this. Very excited for summer to begin! Here are a few things that brightened up my dreary finals week:

This California police officer replaced a young girl's stolen bike (this story is so adorable, it hurts me).

This husband animated his wife's drunken joke about tortilla chips, and it's hilarious.Screen Shot 2013-05-02 at 11.25.40 AM copy

I basically want everything from the Modcloth apartment section for my new place, but specifically, this spelunking tea infuser and this doggy pillowcase set.

While we're at it, throw in this Boston Strong pint glass with the marathon map etched on it! It's incredibly cool, and proceeds go to the One Fund.

This giant inflatable friend has been visiting major coastal cities all over the world courtesy of artist Florentijn Hofman. How funny!

This website lets you make any map coordinates into a pretty watercolor! This is the castle I studied abroad in in the Netherlands. I'm so excited to decorate the new place with these!

Things I Love Thursdays

Happy almost weekend! Yet another very long week...but it was studded with really awesome weather! It doesn't get better than 72 degrees in April, I think. :) Here are a few things that made me smile this week:

As you've probably discovered by now, "Reasons My Son is Crying" is so hilarious

A puppy reenacting the Jeep scene from Jurassic Park! PS, you seriously need to see Jurassic Park 3D, preferably with a large audience. It's a revelation.

This dog is so zen.

I don't think shoes get cuter than these ModCloth Chance Greeting Flats.

This armoire-turned-home-office idea is brilliant! I'm becoming a bit of a home decorating junkie in light of moving into a new space in the fall.

This ice cube tray is the coolest (pun totally intended). You don't need to fill up the individual compartments and (most importantly) it's shaped like a little polar bear!

Homemade Almond Joy. Awesome. Make mine dark chocolate, please!

And last but not least, Boston looked like this yesterday. I don't want to talk about the fact that it's 45 and gross out now. This was taken on my way to getting free Ben & Jerry's for the second time in 2 days. I want to remain in this past moment forever.

Things I Love Thursdays

Thank goodness this week is almost over! Things have just been piling up for me. It's such a relief to know that just a few papers weeks from now, it'll be summer time (and the living will, presumably, be easy). Here are some things that caught my eye/made life awesome this week:

By no means am I a fitness expert, but these Nike Flex Trainer 2s are actually amazing. It feels like there's nothing on your feet at all - a pleasant change for someone who has been wearing the same sneakers to the gym since 8th grade (big, flat Vans). I'm trying to branch out from my beloved elliptical and try running for a change - are any of you guys big runners? Any tips?

I love so many things that ModCloth puts out there, but these. Leggings. You guys. I literally can't even deal with them. I don't know what I would wear with them, or where, or how, but I want them so bad. They're like the SyFy Sand Sharks of legwear. Imagine wearing these during Shark Week! Imagine!!

I saw the Kings of Summer in a special screening yesterday and it was the best. Seriously, welcome to your new favorite summer movie. It was so genuine, and full of heart and friendship, and seriously hilarious - A+ cast and an A+ movie all around. It doesn't come out until May 31, but I obviously give it my highest recommendation. How great is this poster, by the way? As if I needed more reasons to dream of summer!

How Sweet it Is's Lemon Cake with Marshmallow Frosting and Toasted Coconut is drool-worthy. Doesn't it sound like the best flavor combination? I can't wait to get home and get back to baking!

I'm way into this Karma perfume from Lush. I tried it on a whim when I went into the store with my friend, then I had to go back and buy some. I'm not a big perfume girl, but this smell is amazing! Citrus and cinnamon? Perfect!

What are you loving this week?

Things I Love Thursdays

Blogging has been slow coming this week, as I'm insanely busy and stresssssed from apartment hunting! This slushy, gross weather is putting me in a funk (hello, where is spring?) and I feel like all the apartments I see have something wrong with them I just can't look past. We've only been to a few places in person, but I feel like this process has been going on for a lifetime! Maybe I'm just too picky. My fantastically optimistic future roomie said that the more she thought about the places we saw, the more she liked them - I was just the opposite! Are any of you guys in the moving-off-campus grind? It's seriously the worst. I feel so drained.

Anyway, here are a few things that brightened up my week:

This lip dub engagement is the sweetest thing I've ever seen! I was tearing up at the end.

um, not that I have weddings on the brain (I blame Z and our constant TLC marathons), but isn't this the most gorgeous engagement ring you've ever seen? This amazing Newburyport company resizes vintage pieces, and they have the prettiest bands! I've always thought nontraditional rings were so much more elegant than big hulking diamonds.

This tote from Francesca's looks so quintessentially "summer in Cape Cod" I could die. Doesn't it look perfect for the beach? I'm so ready for that warm weather!

The Laughing Squid posted an article about a Dutch horror film (naturally, it'd be Dutch) that is utilizing your smartphone to make an interactive movie experience that supposedly makes you feel like you're in the movie. My inner technology nerd, horror fanatic, and marketing minor rejoiced at this perfect pairing! I only wish they could have come out with it last fall, when I was living in the Netherlands. I can't wait to hear what people think of it.

Speaking of movies, IFF Boston, my very favorite Independent Film Festival, is on the horizon. I caught a glimpse of the line-up this year, and wow! The East, which I've been dying to see (definitely not for Alexander Skarsgard-related reasons...), and Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing are both screening there at the end of April. I also saw a bunch of trailers that looked super promising! It's going to be hard to pick just a few, but money doesn't grow on trees. There's just something about indie film, am I right?

This little guy makes me smile. Dogs do the funniest things!

These Tangled Rapunzel nails are to die for. I'm so bad at nail art, but this one has a video tutorial...maybe it's worth a shot? It's so spring! (I have a Disney problem)

These sandals, guys. I can envision them with so many outfits. Actually, any sandals. This weather...I can't do it anymore.

Happy Spring, everyone - even if it doesn't look like it outside, I know the sun is coming soon!
